About Kim and Julian, Editors of ESL Online Magazine
Welcome to the ESL Online Magazine. I have been a teacher of English as a second language (ESL) for more than twenty years. Teaching has taken me to the Philippines, Taiwan and mainland China. I have taught for ten years at the university level (University of Pennsylvania, Northeastern University and in China) and just as many years at private high schools in the United States. I currently teach at a high school in Boston, MA. I hold a Masters degree in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania. I enjoy sharing life with my husband, four daughters and our West Highland Terrier. Member of TESOL International Association and MATSOL.
While Kim is here to help you with all things American, I am here to help put a British twist into your study of English. Originally from England, I now live in America with my wife, Kim, and our four daughters. It was while teaching in mainland China over twenty-five years ago that Kim and I met for the first time. I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching courses at the University of Pennsylvania, I have had the privilege of teaching at Huazhong University in Wuhan, mainland China as well as Tunghai University in Taiwan. Teaching has taken me to countries throughout the world. I enjoy running, reading, and studying Chinese in my spare time. I look forward to working with you, too.
Our sincere hope is that this blog serves students who are learning English as a Second Language. We hope you find the content useful for your language learning purposes. We also hope you find a community here that engages you in English and with others.
